In 1947 I was spending some time with Sàndor Weöres in Székesfehérvàr. One afternoon he showed me his new composition entitled 'From the Songs of' Roses'. The ink had barely dried on the manuscript. Three stanzas from the cycle inspired me so much that I composed 'Rose-Madrigal' the same evening.

A fent jelzett idȍpontban, Székesfehérváron együtt töltöttük az idȍt Weöres Sándorral. Egy délutánon úgy mutatta meg „Ròzsàk dalaibòl” cimet viselȍ új mȕvét, hogy a kéziraton szinte meg sem szàradt a tinta. A ciklus három versszaka olyannyira zenébe kívánkozott, hogy „Rózsamadrigál” cìmmel még aznap este megkomponáltam.
