I wrote stage music for Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night or What you will” in 1954. I rewrote 'Come away', a song from the play for choir in 1995, and dedicated it to my daughter-in-law Françoise.

"Come away" is a "show article" of a mature craftsmanship which enables the composer to express great depths of meaning in the simplest form devoid of all superficial techniques. The content behind the simplicity of the piece and its ethereal musical expression are breathtaking.

Shakespeare: Vizkereszt címȕ darabjàhoz 1954-ben ìrtam színházi kisérȍzenét. A dalbetétek közül a „Gyere már, te halál”-t 1995-ben átírtam kòrusra és menyemnek, Francoise-nak dedikáltam.

"Come away" annak az érett mesterségbeli tudàsnak a mintadarabja, amikor nagy mélységeket, jelentéstartalmakat a legegyszerübb formàban, eszköztelenül is képes kifejezni a zeneszerzö. Torokszoritò a darab egyszerüsége mögötti tartalom, s az ezt leheletfinoman megszòlaltatott zenei szépség.
