The orchestral work “Planctus et consolations” was written in the autumn 1965 in memory of Pàl Fejös (1898-1963), a film director of Hungarian origin, later president of the Wenner Gren Foundation in New York. The title of the movements running into each other informs the listener of the emotional contents and structure of the work. They are: lntroduzione - Marcia funebre I. - Consolatio I. - Marcia funebre II. - Consolatio II. - Consolatio III. - Furioso - Consolatio IV.

A „Planctus et consolationes” című zenekari darabot 1965 őszén írtam Fejős Pál magyar származású filmrendező, később a New York-i Wenner Gren Foundation (antropológiai tudományos kutatóintézet) elnöke (1898 - 1963) emlékére. Eredeti latin címének (Planctus et Consolationes) szó szerinti fordítása magyarul nehézkesen hatott volna, ezért választottam a fenti, egyszerűbb cìmet. Az egymásba olvadó tételek (Introduzione - Marcia funebre I. - Consolatio I. - Marcia funebre II. - Consolatio II. - Consolatio III. - Furioso - Consolatio IV.) címei tájékoztatnak a mű hangulati tartalmáról és felépítéséről.
