Old bone, young bone, on-on-on. Naked Panni, stocky Boriska, holey Jancsi, rattling Miska, old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
Snow, snow everywhere, the pallid moon hobbles. The bark of frozen trees snaps, ice crackles in the stream.
Hey, hey-ho, ho-hey-ho! The pallid moon jogs along, while I lived I was rich, drove round in a carriage. My many clothes are shared out, not even a button wasted. Old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
While I lived I was poor, wretchedly ate carrots. I once tumbled from the carrot heap down into the dyke. Old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
While I lived I was a girl, carried apples in my apron. The boys ate them all, leaving me skin and bones. Old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
While I lived I was a boy, I tickled the girls. Between the hairs of my pointed moustache, now worms dig in the sand. Old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
Neither tillage, nor road, the wells are dried up. Icicles hang from the crucifix, slumber weighs down the farms.
Hey, hey-ho, deep snow everywhere. Naked Panni, stocky Boriska,Holey Jancsi, rattling Miska,
old bone, young bone, on-on-on.
